Current Situation for Friday, April 19, 2024 at 8:30 a.m.
*This information will be updated Monday - Friday unless significant wildfire activity occurs.
Yesterday, Texas A&M Forest Service did not receive any new requests for assistance on wildfires burning across the state.
There is a low potential for wildfire activity for most of the state through the
middle of next week as fuel moisture is expected to increase to near or above
normal by Saturday when a cold front moves into the state resulting in cool and
moist conditions.
A warmer and drier
environment beginning on Monday through Wednesday is expected for most of the state. A weak
dryline may be the mechanism to produce isolated thunderstorms in the Trans
Pecos and over the mountains next Tuesday and Wednesday where there could be
low potential for a wildfire to occur from a lightning ignition.
Additional details
are posted in the Texas Fire Potential Update, https://bit.ly/TexasFirePotentialUpdate.
There are currently 77 counties with burn bans in place.
Texas A&M Forest Service is not currently responding to any active wildfires burning across the state.
