    Training_Academies

     

    Texas A&M Forest Service provides nationally accredited wildfire and emergency management training throughout Texas to local, state and federal organizations. Training opportunities are offered that accommodate as few as one firefighter to an entire host organization or to multiple organizations. TFS training is coordinated by the Incident Response Department Training Section and delivered by qualified and experienced TFS staff. 

     


     + Mission Statement

    It is the mission of TFS Incident Response Department Training Section to use current information, modern tools, techniques and experienced instructors to provide our students with the knowledge and skills needed to quickly, efficiently and safely respond to wildfires and all-hazard incidents in Texas.

     + Wildfire Training

    TFS delivers quality wildfire training using qualified and experienced instructors, and is accredited by the National Wildfire Coordinating Group, Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System, Texas State Firemen and Fire Marshal’s Association and the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.      + Incident Management Training
    TFS delivers quality incident management training using qualified and experienced instructors. TFS incident management training includes the National Incident Management System and Incident Command System. TFS incident management system training is accredited by local, state and federal organizations including the National Wildfire Coordination Group and FEMA

     + Interagency Training Academies

    TFS Training Section co-sponsors four Texas Interagency Wildfire and Incident Management Academies annually. Most of the courses offered at the interagency academies follow FEMA and/or National Wildfire Coordinating Group guidelines. Qualified instructors use accredited curriculum to ensure that the classes are accredited nationally and often internationally. 

    INTERAGENCY TRAINING ACADEMIES
     
    These four academies are:   
    • The Capital Area Interagency Wildfire & Incident Management Academy hosted each fall at Camp Swift (Bastrop, TX)
    • The East Texas Interagency Wildfire and Incident Management Academy hosted each spring at Angelina Community College (Lufkin, TX) 
    • The Central Texas Wildfire Academy hosted each winter at Camp Bowie (Brownwood, TX)
    • The Mile-High Wildland Fire Academy hosted each winter in Fort Davis, Texas.
