Primary Duties:
******This posting will be for 11 Regional Fire Coordinator I positions in multiple locations. The locations are: Bryan/College Station, Edinburg, El Paso, Fort Hood, Greenville, Houston, Idalou/Lubbock, Kingsville, Uvalde, Victoria, Wichita Falls (office locations within a region are subject to change based on availability and other factors.*****
Provide localized oversight and leadership for TFS Incident Response programs and activities for an assigned geographic area and across the state, as needed. Serve as an emergency responder (including wildland fire). Deliver TFS Capacity Building programs to volunteer and municipal fire departments. Work with fire departments, communities and local officials on fire related issues to promote local capacity building and increase response capabilities on a local and statewide level. Assist in the administration of assigned personnel and the delivery of programs developed by the Chief and Assistant Chief Regional Fire Coordinators, Mitigation and Prevention Specialists, Fuels Management Coordinator and other Forest Resource Protection Departments including data collection for the Predictive Services Department. Serve on TFS Incident Management Team, with related training and preparedness. Manage and account for: TFS credit cards, vehicles log books, daily activity/time reports and any assigned TFS equipment in accordance with applicable laws, rules, procedures and guidelines. Comply with all loss prevention, environmental health and safety standards as established by applicable laws and rules. |
Ocasional Duties:
Provide support for the Forest Resource Development Division and other TFS programs as needed. |
Required Education and Experience:
Required Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Two years of relevant experience may substitute for one year of required education.Required Experience: Demonstrable knowledge of wildland firefighting. Experience with a recognized fire department or wildland fire agency.Required Special Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: Must have a valid Texas drivers license or able to acquire one within 30 days of employment. |
Preferred Education and Experience:
Preferred Education: Preferred Experience: Preferred Special Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: NWCG firefighter training or equivalent; Texas Commission on Fire Protection and/or SFFMA firefighter and instructor certification; working knowledge of wildfire handtools, firefighter personal protective equipment, wildland fire apparatus and IMT experience. |
