Primary Duties:
Responsible for conducting the urban forestry program in the Austin/Central Texas Region. Duties include activities that assist in the development of professionally-based inventories, resource assessments and/or management plans; activities that assist with the establishment of professional staffing; activities that assist with tree ordinance development and review; and activities that assist with the establishment of an advocacy/advisory organization and/or provide ongoing consultation with an existing organization to help improve their effectiveness. Includes technical assistance to local governments and non-profits on program development, tree planting, protection and care; promoting volunteerism and assisting local cooperators with volunteer recruitment and training; monitoring performance of grant projects; promotion urban forestry on the local level through various presentations and through media releases, demonstrations, exhibits and publications; responding to requests for information from the general public. |

Required Education and Experience:
Required Education: Minimum B.S. degree in forestry or closely related field.Required Experience: A minimum of five-years experience with field urban forestry. Strong written and oral communication skills are required.Required Special Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: Skills with GIS/GPS, web development and arboriculture desirable. ISA Certification. |
