Task Force Coordinator I (4 positions)

Primary Duties:

*****Multiple locations including Abilene, Fredericksburg, McGregor and Midland (some locations are approximate and are subject to change based on availability of office space and other factors).*****



Provide supervision and leadership to the fire suppression task force and assigned employees for various activities, including wildfire and all-hazard response. Insure safety and professional development of assigned personnel. Insure maintenance and readiness of equipment and personnel. Serve as an emergency responder and frontline supervisor. Serve as an emergency responder (including wildland firefighter). Deliver TFS Capacity Building programs to volunteer and municipal fire departments. Work with fire departments, communities and local officials on fire related issues to promote local capacity building and increase response capabilities on a local and statewide level. Assist in the delivery of programs developed by the Chief and Assistant Chief Regional Fire Coordinators, Mitigation and Prevention Specialists, Fuels Management Coordinator and other Forest Resource Protection Departments including data collection for the Predictive Services Department. Serve on TFS Incident Management Team, with related training and preparedness. Provide support for TFS emergency response training programs and activities. Manage and account for: TFS credit cards, vehicles log books, daily activity/time reports and any assigned TFS equipment in accordance with applicable laws, rules, procedures and guidelines. Comply with all loss prevention, environmental health and safety standards as established by applicable laws and rules.
Ocasional Duties:

Provide support for the Forest Resource Development Division and other TFS programs as needed.
Required Education and Experience:

Required Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Two years of relevant experience may substitute for one year of required education.Required Experience: Thorough demonstrable knowledge of firefighting, especially wildland. Experience with a recognized emergency response agency or wildland fire agency.Required Special Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: Must have a valid Texas drivers license or able to acquire one within 30 days of employment.
Preferred Education and Experience:

Preferred Education: Preferred Experience: NWCG firefighter training or equivalent; wildland firefighting experience and existing qualifications; Texas Commission on Fire Protection and/or SFFMA firefighter and instructor certification; working knowledge of wildfire handtools, firefighter personal protective equipment, wildland fire apparatus and IMT experience.Preferred Special Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Other Requirements and Comments:

Working long hours, with minimal rest and in primitive conditions; Exposure to harsh environmental conditions such as smoke, wind, sunlight, rain and temperature extremes; Walking long distances, standing for extended periods, twisting, bending, reaching and kneeling; Lifting and carrying heavy objects; Driving motor vehicles for long distances; Operating heavy equipment with related exposure to equipment vibration and noise; Operating computers with monitors for extended periods of time. Emergency response may result in exposure to emotionally stressful situations for extended periods of time. Persons serving in fire operations positions must meet and maintain a moderate physical fitness standard which includes successfully completing a two mile walk in 30 minutes or less while carrying a 25 pound pack.



Response to statewide wildfire and all-hazard incidents will be required. Employee must complete TFS RFC I Taskbook within 6 months of accepting position. Additional requirements include: ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others; working knowledge of water delivery equipment, microcomputers, word processing and presentation software. Limitation on location of employee's place of residence will apply ? must be able to respond to emergency mobilization with task force personnel and equipment within 30 minutes of notification.
