Texas Forest Service, created in 1915 by the Thirty-fourth Texas Legislature, was established as part of The Texas A&M University System with the specification that it be directed by a graduate forester. In addition to being a Member of The Texas A&M University System, Texas Forest Service is also part of the Texas A&M Agriculture Program.
