KILLEEN, Texas – Texas A&M Forest Service is hosting an open house next week to showcase some of its heavy firefighting equipment and the firefighters who work to protect Texans and their homes from wildfire.
The public is invited to join agency officials from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Oct. 11, at Texas A&M University-Central Texas, 1001 Leadership Place, Killeen. They’ll have an opportunity to meet some of the firefighters who bravely battled the Texas blazes that burned more than 4 million acres last year.
A program at 10:30 a.m. will feature Texas State Rep. Jimmie Don Aycock and Texas A&M Forest Service Director Tom Boggus.
Editor’s note: A photo opportunity with Texas A&M Forest Service bulldozers and engines and local fire department trucks will be available for members of the media.
