Timber Tax Workshops

New federal tax incentives are available for landowners receiving cost-share payments from the Forest Health Protection programs. The IRS has new regulations on reporting lump-sum timber sales. The 2009 Texas legislature also provided new property tax incentives for timberland owners.

The daylong workshop will provide an understanding of timber tax including the latest changes to tax laws and rules for 2009 tax return preparations, and strategies for estate planning. Topics will focus on federal timber income tax issues for private forest owners with a refresher on local timberland property tax incentives. Participants will gain a clear understanding of commonly misunderstood timber tax issues.

Forest landowners, professional consulting foresters, loggers, public accountants, and other professionals related to timber business are strongly encouraged to participate.

The exhibitor fee is $100 per exhibitor per workshop. Exhibitor will receive one indoor booth space (one 6 ft. table). In additional to vendor registration, exhibitors will receive a complementary workshop registration for each registered workshop. A full workshop registration includes a workbook, lunch and refreshment. Additional exhibit representatives may purchase the lunch at $15 per person.
