Wildfire Prevention legend Smokey Bear invites you to be part of a worldwide treasure hunt.
In
celebration of Smokey's 75th birthday in 2019, Texas A&M Forest
Service created a wildfire prevention campaign using geocoins.
Seventy-five trackable geocoins have been registered at geocaching.com.
The
coins were originally placed in various Texas A&M Forest Service
geocaches and other public geocaches across the state. Geocachers are
able to locate, move and log these trackable coins.
Since their release, Smokey geocoins have:
- Visited all 47 states
- Been found in 3 different countries
- Traveled over 188,000 miles (more than 7 times around the earth!)
